Can anyone explain Joan Prather's COMPLETE disappearance after EIE? I don't remember any subsequent guest shots, and if that IS her on the breath mint commercial, it must be her first professional job in several years. How old is she now? Late 40s? I would be interested in seeing her on something again.

Back in August I saw her on an old rerun of Chips. I don't remember what years that show ran, but it was probably on around the same time as EiE. That's the only other thing I ever remember seeing her in. I'll be on the lookout for those breath mint commercials, though.

I haven't seen the breath mint commercials, but I'm almost positive that I saw her in an Advanta National Bank commercial with Dan Deerdorf(sp?).

I recently ran across something that stated that Joan Prather (played Janet on EiE)introduced John Travolta to Scientology (controversial religion) while working together on a 1975 Horror Movie filmed in Mexico. This struck me as funny, first because I didn't know Joan Prather was a Scientologist, but also because it is another connection between female cast member of EiE and John Travolta. The others are Diana Hyland's personal relationship with him and Betty Buckley who was in the film Carrie with him. I just thought I would share this coincidence.

Monday morning when my husband and I were on vacation, we turned on the TV set in our motel room and caught the tail end of an old CHiPS episode on cable, which Joan Prather was on. We didn't see enough of it to know what the episode was about, we only saw the last 10 minutes. Joan looked really good, though.

I saw her on the Disney channel in some kind of Disney promo from the 70's. They flashed the camera on different people singing some Disney song, some people were celeb's and some were just regular people.

I am looking for the birthday (month & day) of Joan Prather (Janet on EIE)--I think the year is 1950 or 1951. Also, at one time Joan was a member of the Church of Scientology but I have heard that she "defected" and is no longer associated with the Church--anyone know for sure?

I beleive I saw Joan Prather (Janet) in a commercial for Advanta while watching "Eight Is Enough" on Pax today. I'm not positive it was her, but it sure did look like her. Has anybody else seen this commercial?

I haven't seen the ad, but was recently wondering whatever became of her. She seemed to vanish off the face of the earth when EIE left the airwaves. A couple of weeks ago, I saw her on a Disney Channel special taped in the early 80's with many celebs of that era celebrating Disneyland's 25th (?) anniversary. Adam Rich also appeared on the special.

I am not familiar with any commercials Joan Prather has done, but I am somewhat familiar with "Joan Prather--The Early Years". One of her first "showbiz" experiences was, at age 12, playing the part of one of the children in a high school production of "THE MUSIC MAN" in Dallas. Also while in high school, Joan (or Joanie as she was then known) was a regular member of a group of four dancers on a locally produced teenage dance television show in the `60s in Dallas called "THE SUMP`N ELSE SHOW" which was similar to AMERICAN BANDSTAND. If anyone knows any other bio on her (birth date,a current address where she can be written etc.)please respond. Thanx

Joannie was on a Dallas TV show even before Sump'n Else. Ron Chapman, a well-known DJ on KVIL now, KLIF then, had a show that was on Saturday evenings and kids would lip-sinch to popular records. It was called The Group & Harrigan, which then changed to The Group & Chapman when he started using his real name. Joannie was only about 14 when she got on the show and everyone remarked about her pretty eyes. Then she was Miss Teen Dallas in the mid 60s and I think another of the dancers (Delta?) was Miss Dallas. Joannie had her hair bleached blonde at that time and I thought she was much prettier with dark hair when she was on EIE. She had a sweeter personality on EIE than she seemed to have in the 60s. Did you see the Sump'n Else 20th reunion back in '86? She and all the others came back. All of us were jealous of her because the boys all thought she was so cute.
