You know, I have always been a major fan of this show. Today I got off work early and was actually home at 3pm to watch the show on PAX which I thought was great! As I watched, I found myself feeling a little creepy. I guess what made it sort of weird was realizing that it was 21 years ago and we've barely seen hide nor hair of most of the cast since the show ended its run in '81. I looked at Joanie and thought, "Where is SHE now?" I ultimately wondered the same about virtually everyone else and it kind of depressed me. Then, that last scene came on (it was the X'mas robbery episode) during which the whole fam gathers around as Tommy opens his gift from Joan, and I truly found myself wallowing in depression. Fortunately, that was the end of it. In some respects, I guess this all sort of goes back to the old adage that, "You can't go home again." I know some of you out there will hate what I've written, but please know that it's just the way I feel. I'll still always love the show, but I just don't think I'll ever feel the same sort of "homey" feeling I felt watching it the first time around (and in reruns in the early 80's). In a nutshell, getting old bites!
