all the girls quest.

      this is just something i've always wondered...
      pretty much all the girls are retired from acting. why is this? did they get 'soured' 
      on the business by their eie experience? did they just invest well w/ their money and 
      decide they could just relax and enjoy?  just curious.... does anyone know?

      I wondered about that a lot over the years myself. I know in Susan's case, she 
      tried---REALLY TRIED--- to keep her acting career afloat in the 80s (went out on 
      "calls", etc.)but it just wasn't happening for her.
      
      Do you think it was the same for some of the others? I guess LOVE BOAT and FANTASY 
      ISLAND were still on in the early 80s and they provided jobs for a lot of former TV 
      stars, but none of the shows that are on now seem to care about utilizing 1970s actors 
      in guest starring roles anymore....Why is that?? They haven't ALL retired! It makes you
      wonder if any of the EIE girls (even the married and "retired" ones)are STILL going out 
      on auditions from time to time...I imagine all their "Q Factors" were high in the 
      business, so why weren't they allowed to continue on, like others have been able to 
      do? Its kind of an injustice, but I guess its the nature of the acting business and 
      there's nothing that can be done about it.

      john,
      your correct in that the love boats/fantasy islands of the late 70's/early 80's just 
      don't exist anymore. YET it seems marian ross, shirly jones and flo henderson still 
      get plenty of work on sitcoms. so - who knows what seems 'cool' to casting agents 
      nowadays. perhaps the girls did try and just gave up eventually when the work never 
      materialized. who knows - many unlikely people have made comebacks over the years - 
      perhaps it's time for the eie girls.!

      Dianne Kay was in an episode of "Diagnosis Murder" last season. She's the only one 
      of the girls I've seen in any current shows, though. The others are probably all retired.

      As far as I know, there won't be any EiE reunion shows, but you never know if that's 
      going to change in the future. 

      I keep seeing old TV shows as subjects of ET and TV Guide and E! True Story with more 
      frequency. Is there a saturation point in these old TV show revivals coming up soon? 
      I'm afraid people are going to get tired of these things and tune them out.

      We got another TV reunion special coming up on CBS involving the Dukes of Hazzard. I'll 
      be taping that while I watch the Daytime Emmys hosted by Susan Lucci (wow!). TV Guide 
      panned the reunion, but these things are a matter of taste and fanship.

      Nobody has to do an old TV show reunion, although one show I would like to see a reunion 
      more than EiE off the top of my head would be another Dallas reunion sequel. The writing 
      was pretty good in the last two specials.

      It's not a matter if it's a good reunion, but what matters is if the former cast members 
      enjoy doing it for all the right reasons.
