Susan E! True Hollywood Story
Posted by mike on 2/16/2002, 8:59 pm

I recently watched the E! True Hollywood Story when it was re run.
I was fascinated by Susan's story of the Korean filmmakers trying to blow
her up in a church. It was assumed by watching it that that story wasn't
true, and I have seen others on here say it wasn't. However, it gave no
reason or proof that it wasn't. I know the story seems outlandish, but
how does everyone know that it wasn't true for sure?

She supposedly has documents which prove that her ordeal in Korea did occur,
however she states that she has not been allowed to bring them out. I know
she said that the filmmakers also sliced the brake lines to her car and hacked
off her blonde mane while she was in Korea and all I can say is, it happened
so long ago we may never know for sure what went down over there! Poor Susan!!

Yes, she works in personal care center for the elderly. She does recreation
activities with them, I believe. Plays piano, sings and helps bring their
spirits up.

Betty Lynn Buckley?
Posted by SusanM on 2/20/2002, 12:35 pm

Betty's full name is Betty Lynn Buckley. She was called Betty Lynn as a
kid to distinguish her from her mother, Betty Bob. It's my understanding
that it's her preference now although I've never seen her billed as
Betty Lynn Buckley except for OZ. I hope this helps.

In the 1973 play "What's a Nice Country Like You Doing in a State Like
This" she was also billed as Betty Lynn Buckley, and the script, available
from Samuel French, still shows that listing.

Joan and Tom Braden

Posted by Michele on 8/29/2002, 12:28 pm

Hi, can anyone tell me if Joan or Tom Braden are still alive and any info
on them. I have just finished reading her biography which was very interesting
and am just wondering if these people are still with us. Thank you.

Posted by Nancy C on 9/2/2002, 3:02 pm

Sadly, Joan Braden died a year or two ago. It's in the archives of this
messageboard but when I click on it I get an error. Tom Braden is still
alive as far as I know.

Susan on Match Game

Posted by Christine Lewis on 9/17/2002, 3:15 pm

I saw Susan Richardson on Match Game tonight. The show was from 1979.
There is such a stark contrast between Susan now and Susan then. She was so
happy, always smiling, beautiful. I have not spoken to Susan for many years,
but I wish her the best. I know in my heart what kind of loving, caring,
and giving Susan really is. I hope that whatever Susan may be going through
that she will come through ok. God Bless you Susan, I know that you will
triumph over it all. We you the best. Scott, Christine, & Joshua

I had read somewhere that Susan was working in a nursing home-type facility
again and doing better. It's a shame that so many of the actors on that
show lived out the destructive side of fame. I hope that Susan is on the
right path now. At least Grant Goodeve and Willie Aames had their lives take
a turn for the better.

Very Important Message for Susan Richardson

Posted by John O'Dowd on 9/30/2002, 11:45 am

If Susan or anyone who knows her visits this website please get in touch
with me ASAP. I received a phone call today (Monday, September 30) from a
woman named Nancy who is Dick Van Patten's assistant. (Susan, if you remember,
you registered my name with SAG as the contact number for you, and that's
how Nancy got my information.) Anyway, Mr. Van Patten is extremely interested
in taking to you ASAP. I have his phone numbers if you need them. Please
email me or telephone me as soon as you can as it sounds pretty important.
Thanks a lot. John O'Dowd

Lani O'Grady

Hi everyone, haven't been here for awhile.
I was Lani's friend. Didn't know any of the
other cast members. Thanks for keeping
the show alive via this Site. I'm sure
Lani would be touched. She's probably
looking down on it, and smiling gently.
She was very proud of her work on 8IE.
I don't know if I ever shared this before,
But she chose 8IE over the part of Kate Jackson
on "Charlies Angels" I asked her is she ever
regretted that chose, and she said not for a second.
She got to "ACT" on 8IE. That is why she retired
after the show, because she said she had
achieved her goal of being a series regular
on a successful Drama. I just wish she could
have found something to replace that goal, that
would have made her happy. Oh well, I don't
want to get sad. So I better stop.

Take care all,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel. I think Lani had a very special friend and she
really seemed like a wonderful person that we will always cherish.

Thank you, Daniel, for sharing this little anecdote about Lani
with us. She was a dear girl. Do you know if there will be a
magazine article or book written on Lani's life and times? I
would really like to read all about her life, especially about
her early years in the business. Thank you. And take care. We
remember Lani with great fondness, and I for one, miss her a lot.

Willie Aames

Hi everybody,
EIE was my favorite show way back when and Willie was always my favorite
character. So it was pretty cool when earlier this year, Willie came to
my house to visit my little boy. They've become great friends and speak
on the phone often. Willie is an incredible Christian man who has an
amazing heart for children. And he has a terrific sense of humor! I have
asked him whether he keeps in touch with any of the EIE cast members
and he said only Dick Van Patten and Grant Goodeve, mainly because of
their faith. Willie is just an all-round great guy!

I saw Willie Aames when he came to my town for the Bibleman road tour.
It was just as entertaining for adults as it was for children. He is very
honest about his past, and he's a wonderful witness for Christ.
